Once you’ve gone through the rigmarole of finding and buying a property, it’s time to arrange the actual move.
There are still many important things to remember and it is worth sitting down at least a month prior to your moving date and making a list of things to remember.
The following is an example checklist for the month preceding your move.
Four weeks before you move:![]()
- Get quotes from removal firms and book in your delivery slot
- Notify Gas/Electric/Water/Phone/Internet companies of your moving date
- Start packing things which you won't need before moving in
- Arrange for your post to be redirected
One week before your move:
- Confirm date and time with removal company
- Settle bills on existing property
- Check that the keys are going to be available on the day
On the day:
- Brief the removal men - show them around the house
- Check you have left nothing behind
- Lock up
- Collect keys for your new home
