Bristol House Prices (by postcode) 2010-2019


Voted the best city to live by the Sunday times in 2017. Bristol is known for its diversity, beautiful waterfront, low crime rates, vibrant atmosphere, and great jobs, especially in the creative and IT sectors.





Over the decade from 2010 – 2019 a total of 159,075 houses were sold according to Land Registry data.





This article aims to identify some of the key trends in house prices in both terms of house price brackets, but also how transient each post code area is – in other words, which post code areas had the highest number of houses sold.

At the start of the decade, house sales were at its lowest at 431, this may be due to the global financial crisis at the time.





The highest year for house sales was in 2014, with a total of 560, which was closely followed by 2013 with 519.





At the start of the decade in 2010 the lower end of the property market, sold for less than £100,000 at a total of 344.





The house price bracket that came in second was between £120k-150k, at the start of the decade 1033 houses sold. However, only 308 sold in 2019 in this housing bracket. The highest number of houses sold in the 200k-300k bracket, with 3047 house sales. This shows that increased demand for houses in Bristol raised house prices significantly. To be exact, house prices increased by 5.3% over the decade.





On the more expensive houses sales in Bristol, 19 houses sold between 800k-1M in 2010. By the time we reached the end of the decade, 84 houses sold in 2019 in that bracket.

In terms of the volume of house sales in a postcode district, the B10 postcode district which represents Southmead was overall the area with the highest number of house sales with 3555 for the decade, BS1 closely follows with 3547.
